Founding Author Addendum
Version 2026-08-19.draft-1 · Last updated August 19, 2026 · In effect
In effect for the Founding Author Program — not yet reviewed by counsel
This document governs Founding Author projects today. It is a deliberate exception: the Founding Author Program runs on drafted terms with a small invited cohort, and counsel reviews these documents before Voicewright opens to the public. Bracketed text marks decisions still to be confirmed. If anything here is unclear or you would like it changed before you accept, say so — we would rather amend it than have you sign something you are unsure of.
In short
We produce your audiobook in full and you pay only the deposit — the balance is waived. In exchange you accept that the service is early and is provided as-is: no delivery date, no quality warranty, and features may change while we build. What does not change: you keep every right to your book, you own the finished audio, we never train models on your manuscript, and you can stop at any time.
1. What this document is
This Founding Author Addendum (the "Addendum") applies to a production engagement accepted into Voicewright's Founding Author Program (the "Program"). It is an addendum to the Author Production Agreement (the "Agreement"), not a replacement for it.
The Agreement governs the engagement in full. This Addendum changes three things and only three things: what the Author pays, what Voicewright warrants about the work, and what Voicewright commits to about timing. Where this Addendum and the Agreement conflict on those three points, this Addendum controls. On every other point, the Agreement controls unchanged.
Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Agreement. "Founding Author" means a person or entity Voicewright has invited into the Program and who has accepted this Addendum.
2. Acceptance and invitation
The Program is by invitation from [Voicewright entity — LLC name and state of formation to be confirmed], operating as Voicewright Studio ("Voicewright"). There is no application and no entitlement to join; an invitation may be withdrawn before a project's deposit is paid.
The Author accepts this Addendum by checking the acknowledgment box and paying the deposit on a project marked as a Founding Author project. That click is the Author's electronic signature, and the acceptance — including this document's version — is recorded on the project alongside the Agreement's.
Accepting this Addendum is not a condition of working with Voicewright. Any author may decline the Program and engage on the ordinary terms, at the ordinary price, with the ordinary warranties.
3. The Founding Author offer
For the Author's first project under the Program, Voicewright waives the balance. The Author pays the deposit shown on the project's Quote, and nothing further, except as stated below.
- The project is quoted normally and its full price is shown, so that both parties can see the value of the waiver. The waived balance is recorded on the project; it is never charged, and no invoice for it will follow.
- The waiver applies to the Author's FIRST project under the Program. Later projects are quoted and charged on the ordinary terms. Voicewright expects to offer returning Founding Authors preferential pricing, but does not commit to any particular discount here.
- Revisions beyond the Quote's included allowance still accrue the per-change fee shown in the project's revision panel, and are due at Approval. The waiver covers the balance, not additional work the Author chooses to request.
- Taxes required to be collected are added at checkout where applicable.
- The waiver is personal to the Author and is not transferable.
4. Scope of a Program project
A Program project is bounded, so that both parties know what was agreed. Anything outside these bounds is not refused — it is quoted normally, before the work starts, never after.
- One book, up to 120,000 words of manuscript. A longer manuscript may be accepted with the overage quoted separately, or declined, at Voicewright's discretion — decided before the deposit is paid.
- The included revision allowance shown on the project's Quote, sized from the project as all other projects are.
- Whether the book is produced with a single narrating voice or a full character cast is Voicewright's decision, made with the Author at intake.
- Program projects are produced by Voicewright's own producers.
5. What this Addendum does NOT change
The Program changes the price and the warranty. It does not weaken the Author's position in any other respect. For the avoidance of doubt, and notwithstanding anything in section 6:
- The Author retains every right in the Manuscript and the underlying work. Nothing in the Program transfers any of it (Agreement §9(a)).
- The Author owns the finished audio on payment — which, under this Addendum, means on payment of the deposit (Agreement §9(b)). Voicewright's assignment of the delivered recordings is not conditioned on the waived balance.
- Voicewright does not use the Manuscript to train machine-learning models (Agreement §9(c)).
- The Manuscript and unreleased audio remain the Author's confidential material (Agreement §15), except exactly as the Author separately permits in the Founding Author Showcase Consent.
- The Author may withdraw at any time, and the deposit is refundable in full until production begins (section 7).
- The Author's ability to distribute and sell the finished audiobook anywhere is unaffected. The Program grants Voicewright no exclusivity and no first refusal.
6. As-is — the Program's risk terms
This is the substance of what the Author is accepting, and it should be read carefully. Voicewright is building this service. The Program exists so that it is exercised by real authors on real books before it is offered to the public, and the reduced price reflects a genuinely reduced commitment.
Voicewright's warranty in Agreement §14 that production will be performed in a professional and workmanlike manner DOES NOT APPLY to a Program project. For Program projects, the Services and all Deliverables are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- No delivery date. Voicewright will give the Author an estimate and will keep the Author informed. The estimate is not a commitment, and nothing in the Program makes time of the essence.
- No service level. The product may be unavailable, and support is best-effort.
- The product will change during the engagement. Features may be added, altered, or withdrawn mid-project, including features the Author has come to rely on.
- Defects and data loss are possible. Voicewright maintains backups and will make reasonable efforts to recover from any loss, but does not warrant against it.
- Quality is not warranted. Voicewright will produce the book to the standard it produces all its work, and will correct problems the Author raises during review — but the Author's remedy for a Program project is correction and re-delivery, or ending the engagement under section 7. There is no other remedy.
- Agreement §16 continues to cap each party's total liability at the total fees paid or payable for the engagement. Under this Addendum those fees are the deposit.
7. Ending a Program engagement
Either party may end a Program engagement before delivery, and the Program adds nothing punitive to that:
- By the Author, before Audition approval — the engagement ends and the deposit is refunded in full, as under Agreement §7.
- By the Author, after production has begun — the engagement ends and the deposit is non-refundable, as under Agreement §7. It has been spent producing the book. No balance is or becomes due.
- By Voicewright, at any stage and for any reason, including ending the Program — the engagement ends and everything the Author has paid is refunded in full, deposit included. Accepting an as-is service is not accepting that Voicewright may keep money for work it did not do.
- If Voicewright ends an engagement after production has begun, Voicewright will deliver whatever finished audio exists at that point, at the Author's option, with the Author's ownership of it under Agreement §9(b) unaffected.
8. What we ask of Founding Authors
These are the reasons the Program exists, and they are the Author's part of it. They are stated here so that both parties share the same expectation. They are NOT conditions of the waiver: an Author who is slow to review, or who has nothing to say about the product, does not lose the offer and is not in breach of this Addendum.
- A finished manuscript. Rewrites after production starts are a change of scope under Agreement §6, quoted separately, exactly as for any other project.
- Timely review. Voicewright asks for a first response within 14 days of each Audition or Draft. Reviewing the work is the part of the process the Program most needs exercised.
- Honest feedback, including — especially — about what did not work. Voicewright may ask for a short debrief at delivery. The Author may decline.
- Permission to feature the Author's work, given separately and revocably in the Founding Author Showcase Consent. That consent is optional, is not a condition of the waiver, and may be revoked at any time without affecting this Addendum or the finished audiobook.
9. The Program itself
The Program is limited in number and in time. Invitations are issued to [a limited cohort — size to be confirmed] authors, through [Program invitation window — dates to be confirmed]. Voicewright may close, suspend, or change the Program at any time; a change to the Program does not change the terms of an engagement already accepted, which continue as agreed under section 7.
Founding Author status is permanent and does not expire when the Program closes. What it entitles the Author to after closing is: the waiver already given, a place in the Founding Author Program section for as long as the Author's Showcase Consent stands, and early access to new Voicewright capabilities as they become available.
Voicewright intends to promote Founding Authors in its own future channels — its storefront, newsletter, and blog — as those exist. That is a statement of intention, not a commitment, and no particular promotion is promised.
10. General
Except as expressly modified here, the Agreement and the documents it incorporates — the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, and the Refund & Revision Policy — remain in full force and govern the engagement, including governing law, notices, and dispute process.
Notices about the Program go by email — to Voicewright at support@voicewright.studio, to the Author at the account email. If any provision of this Addendum is unenforceable, the rest stands, and the Agreement's corresponding provision applies in its place.
Questions about any of this are welcome before acceptance, and amendments to this Addendum for a particular engagement are possible in writing — reach us at hello@voicewright.studio.
